By spending 46.661 million. dram instead of the planned 44.093 m. dram, the municipality could realize the following works in Yerevan: reconstruction of Northern Avenue, construction of houses and external communication facilities in Diakonia district, full reconstruction of Kievyan bridge, reconstruction of Davitashen bridge and the little bridge of the cable car building (these two constructions continue and are not finished yet). Work is also being completed on ten buildings and three streets in Yerevan. Reconstruction is going on in Hrazdan canyon and in the pantheon of the park named after Komitas. Constructers have finished their reconstruction works on #30 & 31 buildings in the 8th community of Nor Nork, as well as the works on “Mother Armenia” museum building and the construction works of the memorial monument of Isakov. They have also finished the watering program. In November they will finish reconstruction on the Swan Lake, which will be used as an ice field in winter. As for illegal constructions Mr Zakharyan noted that there were about 109.000 illegal constructions in Yerevan. He also said that they would do their best to consider the needs of those citizens. The mayor was a little bit surprised in connection with the construction works not far from Yerevan Chamber Music Hall, which started about four months ago: “We haven’t received any complaints or suggestions from the Music Hall administration, from NGOs or from journalists. And now it is strange to me that people complain. In spite of this, we let them do construction only on a part of that territory (250 square meters, which is 15 % of the territory). The rest of the territory will be used for constructing pools and for planting greenery”. He promised not to let anyone cut any trees there. They will make reimbursement to the citizens of Kond and will provide them with apartments, which wasn’t done for the citizens of the other sold territories. As for the first group of people the mayor said: “We have made 1200 reimbursement contracts. We have received only 25 complaints. I think this is normal”. The mayor also promised to provide the inhabitants of the two buildings of 4th emergency level with apartments till the end of this year.
At the end of the press-conference the mayor petitioned everyone to say “yes” to the Constitution by pointing out the provision according to which the mayor of Yerevan should be elected by popular vote.
