“After the disputed presidential election in 2008 the society is still polarized. The authorities are resisting this polarization, as well as the open discussions on the economic crisis and other topics. There is lack of tolerance and intimidation on journalists,” reads the report entitled “Intimidation on media 2009: Armenia”. The report touches upon the issue of A1+ and writes the following: “The A1+ is still deprived of the air. The authorities continue to control the major part of the broadcast media, and the private TV and radio stations belong to persons and businessmen in close relations with the authorities.”
