Yesterday at 4p.m. a dozen of policemen broke the doors of the central office of the Sukiasyans’ SIL Group, broke in and arrested the president of Armeconombank board of directors Saribek Sukiasyan. The police took Sukiasyan to the police department of Erebuni community. The police released a statement in the evening, and according to the statement Sukiasyan was arrested at 6p.m. According to the mentioned statement released by the police, on the same day at 5:30p.m. (i.e. 1,5 hours after Sukiasyan was arrested) the head of Audit LLC Gor Davtyan applied to the mentioned police department and said that in October 2008 he sold his 41% share in Byuregh CJSC to Saribek Sukiasyan’s wife Aspram Tonoyan. In November 2009 the Supreme Court ruled this deal invalid, after which a new shareholder appeared in the company and tried to buy the stocks. Thus, at 1p.m. Gor Davtyan went to the office of SIL Group to inform Sukiasyan about it, where Sukiasyan and the head of Ayrarat mall Artash Stepanyan threatened him to kill and made him sign under some documents concerning the company stocks. The latter was taken to the police department with Sukiasyan as well. According to our information, the ministry of agriculture owes 10% in this company, and after learning about this information the ministry brought a case in the court to rule the deal invalid and the court did it.
G. Davtyan suggested the Sukiasyans the operate the company until the problem with the ministry of agriculture would be solved because the money had been received. They suggested to leave the purchase deal for the future. According to our information, yesterday G. Davtyan called S.Sukiasyan, went to SIL Group and tried to solve some issues himself. Awhile ago he left the office and sent sms text from his mobile phone. In several minutes the police broke into the office. According to our information, the video cameras installed in the office of the Sukiasyans have recorded the conversation with G.Davtyan and actions of the police. Till the end of the day the office of the Sukisyans did not release any statements about the incidents, and maybe the reason was the fact that their lawyers were not allowed to visit and meet with their clients. The representatives of European institutions in Armenia have expressed concerns about the incident with Sukiasyan. The head of the Armenian delegation to the PACE Davit Harutyunyan told our correspondent that the representatives of the Monitoring Committee had called him and asked about the incident.
