On November 28 in the Concert Complex after Karen Demirchyan the 12th Congress of the Republican Party of Armenia took place, during which an election of the chair of the party and the party bureau members was held. The elections proceeded with violations. Approximately 1.5 hours prior to the nomination of the RPA chair and the bureau members the RPA representatives have started the voting. Before the NA chairman Hovik Abrahamyan announced of the launch of the voting there were already over 100 voted ballots in the box. Later, the spokesman of the RPA Edward Sharmazanov said that those were considered invalid later. Nevertheless, Serzh Sargsyan was unanimously elected party chair and the prime minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan and the Mayor of Yerevan Gagik Beglaryan were elected members of the party bureau. After the Congress with the recommendation of Serzh Sargsyan, Galust Sahakyan, Razmik Zohrabyan and Moushegh Lalayan were elected deputy-chairmen of the party. Abrahamyan became the president of the RPA political commission.
