The Human Rights Day, by the recommendation of the UN general Assembly, is celebrated on December 10 since 1950. This is the day when in 1948 the General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights0. In the Declaration the GA recommended all countries to present reports in connection with the celebration of the Human Rights Day. The High Commissioner for Human Rights has a very important role in the coordination of this work. By the way, in the South African Republic the Human Rights Day is a national holiday but is celebrated not on December 10 but March 21. For example, December 10 is a day off in Kiribati.
