Valdimir Kostanyan, a candidate nominated in the 10th precinct of Yerevan has come up with an announcement suggesting the other candidates to withdraw their candidacies “to give an additional opportunity to Nicol Pashinyan to take part in the elections in the 10th precinct so that no one may say that their participation is an artificial obstacle for Pashinyan’s candidacy in the mentioned precinct.” “It will also help us to show that our efforts are not a government project and no one is demonstrating a fake effort,” said the actor, whose words in fact were addressed for Marxist David Hakobyan and Hmayak Hovhannisyan. However Kostanyan does not want to do that and he does not suggest to withdraw candidacies together either. The most important thing is that Kostanyan’s announcement rejecting the possibility of being a pro-government project was disseminated by the Liberal party, which is a pro-government party for sure. It is hard to imagine what the government wants to demonstrate. It is even harder to believe that the authorities might have understood that it was not the right decision to reject to issue a document certifying that Pashinyan has lived in the country for the past five years. It is not excluded that the authorities see that these elections are becoming like a comedy and they have decided to fail the elections through withdrawal of candidacies and organize new elections in this precinct. If Mr. Kostanyan really wants Pashinyan run in the elections, instead of petitioning his competitors to give up he’d be better to petition his beloved government to issue a document to Pashinyan to allow him participate in the elections. The government still has this opportunity as Pashinyan’s case will be discussed by the administrative court on Monday. It is the government’s last opportunity to cease this comedy show in the 10th precinct of Yerevan.
