The fuss within the Social-Democratic Henchak Party (SDHP), which had been proceeding for months now, already peeks out from the inter-party circles. A former member of the Heritage Vardan Khachatryan, who had last week joined the SDHP, was banished from this party as well. The reasons are not that vital. In fact, it was part of the scenario to make Khachatryan a member of the Henchak party. By this, the government is trying to fragment the three traditional parties and then form a “patriotic opposition” from among the traditional parties – ARF, RAK, Heritage and SDHP. The government has found a common language with the leaders of all the mentioned parties and the only obstacle is the chairwoman of the Henchak party, Lyudmilla Sargsyan. They are trying to resolve the issue of the latter’s resignation by involving Vardan Khachatryan. At that, surprisingly, in this process is involved a renowned intriguer Ashot Manucharyan. And it seems that a supporter of this process is becoming a comparably modest oppositionist Vahan Shirkhanyan. Only the future will show what this story is going to end up with and whether these opposition parties will become regular clients for the government. Prior to that, we may fix that the political field in Armenia is being consistently obliterated. One by one, parties, aging a hundred of years and comparably younger are being ruined. Ramkavar Liberal Party, National Renaissance, NDU, Heritage…and now the Henchak party. By the way, it is not excluded that this mentioned list of parties may be added by the ARF, within which there is serious anxiety and processes despite its “peaceful unity”. Regardless of the ideologies and values of this and other parties, they still played (have played) certain role in the political field of Armenia. But this role is gradually vanishing. And this happens as a result of the direct and indirect participation of the government. As a result a certain vacuum is originated in the society partly because of the comparably passive behavior of the Armenian National Congress. The power seems split between the government and the imitative opposition.
