“After the global crisis is overcome in the world Armenia will have to stay alone with its internal crisis. This internal crisis will last longer,” stated NA MP Tigran Torosyan during yesterday’s press conference. According to him, the anxious thing about the Armenian situation is that there are many negative phenomena, which were present before too, but now they got a new quality. In addition, not only in the system of parties and political system, but also in the economic sphere. Torosyan thinks that the situation in Armenia is determined by the economic crisis of course, but paying attention to the Armenian economy, we may see that we have a sharp change of economic policy. He noted that the global economic crisis will sooner or later be overcome but we will remain in the home economic crisis. When speaking of the internal political situation he noted that one of the reasons for the Armenian present situation is the degradation of the multiparty political system of Armenia. “After all, the country is being ruled by parties. This is the political system we elected. The solution depends on the quality of the parties. Unfortunately, we have to state, that since independence, there has not been any progress in this connection, but even contrary processes are happening. And it is obvious that if we want to solve the current issues present in the country, we need to have capable parties, which would be ready to solve those issues”, stated Torosyan. “After all, the country is being ruled by parties. When speaking of the PACE resolution 1677 adopted for Armenia Torosyan mentioned that the Council of Europe or any other international organizations don’t solve any problems. He believes that these structures only help their member states to see their issues more clearly. In his opinion there is an unserious attitude to the Council of Europe on part of Armenia. As an example he mentioned the fact that after the adoption of the resolution 1677 the Armenian parties have been discussing the famous step of the NA MP from the Heritage faction Zaruhi Postanjyan for 10-15 days in a row. This is impermissible. “If we really wish to be seriously taken and become a full member of the Council of Europe then this kind of attitude should be changed,” said Torosyan. According to him one thing is pretty evident from resolution 1677, “The resolution states that the political crisis still continues in Armenia. The resolution is sort of a road-map to overcome this crisis. Unfortunately pretty often international documents and resolutions are not quite well construed and realized but one thing is for sure Armenia has never fully fulfilled the demands of the previous resolutions and in order to become a full and legitimate Council of Europe member-state the country should abide with all the requirements.”
