Cooperation of Armenia and Armenian Diaspora plays an important role in the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, Hovik Abrahamyan, speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia said in Paris during a meeting with representatives of Armenian Diaspora. “Politics of Yerevan towards normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations in no way relates to the issue of Genocide recognition. This is not a subject of discussion or bargaining,” Speaker of the RA Parliament stressed. According to him, the Armenian Genocide was the most horrific crime against humanity and the greatest tragedy of the Armenian people. ”Armenian people cannot abandon their history, but the nation can overcome difficult moments of that history. Armenia and Turkey need to face history. Armenian side suggests Turkey to abandon preconditions, display courage to accept their own history and to establish normal relations with Armenia,” speaker of the Armenian Parliament said. “In order to establish regional peace and stability, President Serzh Sargsyan made certain steps to normalize the Armenian-Turkish relations. Today, we are waiting for a positive response from the Turkish side. All world community waits for it,” speaker of the Parliament of Armenia said.
