Tomorrow, on July 5 is the 14th anniversary of the adoption of the Armenian Constitution. This is a day, which unfortunately has never turned to become a real holiday during the past 14 years neither for the Armenian citizens nor especially for the political actors or government. Of course, tomorrow many statesmen will make lofty speeches about the day of the Constitution but this won’t make the day of Constitution a real holiday. I don’t just mean the holiday parties or mood but the perception of the Mother Law and its value for the independence of our republic. And this perception will exist only after people start to respect and not violate the Constitution regardless of their status and position. In order to raise the value of the Constitution let us only quote several articles of the Constitution without comments, “The Republic of Armenia is a sovereign, democratic, social and legal state. In Armenia the power belongs to the people. The people practice their power through free elections, referendums as well as through local government elections. The usurpation on part of any organizations or person is considered a crime. The person, his dignity, basic rights are highest values.” Congratulations on the Day of the Constitution.
