To the memory of photojournalist Ruben Mangasaryan (1960-2009)

The Foundation of Independent Information Means (Armenia), the Three Million monthly magazine (Armenia) and the 168-Zham newspaper (Armenia) are presenting the “Unprecedented Armenia” photo contest. The title of the contest is the name of the photo project, on which the famous photo journalist Ruben Mangasaryan used to work on during his whole lifetime. He used to often repeat that “one life is not enough to photograph the whole beauty of Armenia.” His words were divine… His heart stopped because of not enduring the painstaking work. Ruben’s project remained unfinished. By launching the “Unprecedented Armenia” photo contest we are inviting all the professional and amateur photographers to participate in this project, which was started by Ruben Mangasaryan. There are no limitations with the theme of photographs. You can send both still life photos and other photos related to Armenia’s routine. The photos should imply the author’s artistic imitations and have a high technical quality. The only condition is the following: the photographs should be taken in Armenia no sooner than 2008. The organizational staff of the project has the right to use the photographs (by the consent of the authors) for the commercial purposes of the contest. For the preliminary selection the photographs may be sent by low resolution (72 dpi) and 800-1000 px (the long side). By the request of the project managers the authors must be willing to send high resolution pictures (minimum 300 dpi). The winners of the contest will receive monetary and other awards. Additional information will be provided on this. The low resolution photographs may be sent to the following e-mail address: [email protected] . The photographs will b accepted from July 1, 2009 and the deadline is August 20, 2009. The jury will publicize the names of the winners in September 2009 during the official granting of awards. We will provide additional information on this.
