The Golden Apricot movie festival, which will start its work on July 12, has already publicized the composition of the juries, which will be judging various nominations. As the project manager Stamboltsyan said the composition of the jury proves the respect of the festival. Besides the participants of the festival the composition of the jury is also important. This year the president of the jury will be Japanese film director Kojey Ogouri. Although he is not very famous in the world as a film director he is quite famous in Japan. The members of the jury of this nomination will be a famous actress of Armenia Arsine Khanjyan, German movie theorist and producer Albert Vidershpil, Spanish movie producer Paco Poch, which whom famous filmmaker Pedro Almodovar shot his first movie, American-Armenian dramatist and actor Eric Poghosyan, who was shot in many Hollywood-made movies, Georgian filmmaker Nana Georgadze, whose films deserved not only awards in the Cannes Festival but were also nominated for the Oscar’s in the best foreign movie nomination (her most famous comedy starred by Pierre Rickard and was named 100 prescriptions for the cook in love). The international documentary films jury will be led by the president of the greatest Russian moviemaker STS Media Alexander Rodnyansky, who started his career as a documentary film maker and was later busy with producing. As a rule the hardest segment of the Golden Apricot is the nomination of the Armenian Prospect because the Armenian movies are not too various and vivid. This year there will be only one film shot in Armenia. It’s called “Taxi eli lava,” which according to the organizers of the Golden Apricot is the only movie eligible for the festival. Instead Armenian filmmakers working in other countries will be able to show their films. Among those filmmakers are Karen Hovhannisyan (“the ghost”), who works in Russia, Vardan Hakobyan (“Plato”) from Russia, Iranian Varouzh Karim-Masihi (“Hesitance”), French filmmaker Frederick Balegjyan (“one world for us”), German Nouran Davit Kalis (“my mother, brother and me”) and American Michael Gyurjyan (“transporting”). The new breath of Armenian movie making is connected with documentary movies, which don’t require too much of funding. This year by the selection net of the Golden Apricot the main judge of the Armenian movies will be Dutch moviemaker Hayk Balyan, who has great respect in the Benelux countries. Moreover, he heads not only a filmmaking company but also presides one of the zoos of Amsterdam. On the days of the Golden Apricot usually the famous filmmakers take courses of masters. This year the composition of the masters will be one of its founders American Rob Nilson, due to who the big screen was introduced to digital technologies. The courses taught by him will undoubtedly be useful for Armenian young filmmakers. Mastership courses will be trained by Polish filmmaker Sergey Solovyov, whose film Anna, shot 20 years ago, was continued in Anna-2 movie. Among the honorable guests will be Tatiana Drubich and filmmaker Roman Balayan.
