Poor taxpayers!

In March, 2009, the taxation service of Armenia checked up the activities of 55 companies included in the list of the biggest 325 taxpayers of Armenia, as a result of which the tax services collected additional 207.6 mln dram. This sum is more by 21.7% than in the same period of the past year. This information was provided by the analysis information book on monitoring the performance of the biggest 325 taxpayers in March published by the taxation services.
 
In the same information book they report that the income of the mentioned companies as a result of selling their products increased 27.7% compared to the previous year and reached 173.1 billion dram. For example, the income of Armrusgazard, Electric Networks of Armenia and Flesh companies increased by 1,4 billion dram in March compared to the same period of the previous year. In parallel with growth of income capacities the capacity of paid taxes was reduced. In March month of 2009 the biggest taxpayers of the country paid 13.6 billion dram to the budget as tax and other relative payments, which is less by 5,3 billion than in the previous year. “Armrusgazard, K-Telecom and Armenia Telephone Company paid less taxes by 1,5 billion dram during March of this year than during the same period of the previous year,” writes the report.

Besides that income received from selling the products the companies had reduction in almost all aspects compared to the same period of the previous year (import and export, customs, tax and other relative payments to the budget). Companies have paid less customs payments too because the import capacities have been reduced as well. For example, Armrusgazard, City Petrol service and the copper-molybdenum company of Zangezur together paid 1,1 billion customs payment, which was less by 8% compared to the same period of the previous year. In parallel with reduction of such payments the money payments at borders were cut down as well. Thus, the customs payments at borders were cut down by 17.4%. The export sector is in a very bad situation. In March 2009 the export capacity reduced by 40.4% and became 11.0 billion dram. The capacity of export on part of Clear metal Company, Armenian Copper Program and Armenian Molybdenum Production companies was reduced by 4.4 billion dram compared to the same period in the previous year.

According to the same information, the median number of employees of the mentioned companies was reduced by 5.4% compared to the same month in the previous year. Meanwhile, the companies made efforts to increase salaries, thus the salary fund on part of these companies was increased by 4.6%.
