What did Putin say in Aliyev’s ear?

While in Armenia and especially among governmental circles actively discuss the possibility of opening the Armenian-Turkish border by presenting it as “blast of the century” quite intensive events are taking place regarding the NKR conflict resolution. For example, after his visit to Moscow the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated, “There cannot be unilateral solution to the NKR conflict. Azerbaijan doesn’t see and won’t participate in processes, in which the NKR will be judicially segregated from Azerbaijan. We understand the necessity of territorial communication for Armenia between Armenia and NKR. We don’t see any problem with that. The issues connected with the Lachin corridor can be solved in a way not to have problems among the ones, who live in Karabakh now, nor the Azerbaijani, who will return to Karabakh after the regulation of the conflict.” He also added that the issue of the conflict resolution may be prolonged for an uncertain period of time. This is first of all interesting because of the fact that perhaps this is the first concrete statement on part of Azerbaijan. As of the “benign attitude” of Aliyev to Lachin’s issue we can understand what compromises the Armenian side agreed with in order to deserve such an attitude. Moreover, Aliyev makes such a statement after the meeting with the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. “The official Baku doesn’t exclude that in near future a document may be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan around the NKR conflict resolution,” yesterday this statement was made by Novruz Mamedov, the head of the foreign relations of the administration of the Azerbaijani president. He also emphasized that the visit of the Azerbaijani president to Russia, the quality of talks with Medvedev give grounds to be inspired with hope again. “There is a great chance that this year there will be essential progress,” he said. If we formulate these statements in a more simple language, unfortunately we will have the following, “Medvedev promised Aliyev to do his best to persuade Armenia to sign the document on NKR regulation. Moreover, only in two days, on April 23 president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will pay a working visit to Russia for two days. And if we add to this the fact that the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group will pay a visit to Armenia tomorrow then the picture will become more complete.
