In contrast to the last demands, this time the soldiers are demanding
protection of human rights, democracy, national and human values. The
47 member first and second team of soldiers fighting for protection of
democracy and human rights are currently participating in
demonstrations at the “Barekamutyun” metro, which is not far away from
the president’s residence. The soldiers are presenting a list of
demands: “Stop the constitutional and authority sabotages, subject the
authors of the constitutional amendments passed in 2003 and the
committee members for being responsible for putting the proposed plan
in circulation on August 6,2004, include all absent clauses of the UN’s
Declaration of Human rights’ in the constitution of the RA, appoint new
personnel to the constitutional court, put an end to not informing the
public about important national issues, etc. These requests were made
to the president of the RA, president of the National Assembly of the
RA and the ombutsman. The soldiers also requested an open forum debate
concerning the amendments made to the existing constitution of Armenia.
The participants of the debate included the authors of the proposed
plan, National Assembly deputies G. Sahakyan, S. Balasanyan, H.
Karapetyan, R. Petrosyan and G. Ghonjeyan on one side, representatives
