“In three or three and half hours the average currency rate for today will be publicized by the stock market. I am sure that today the AMD will be revaluated,” yesterday told our reporter the chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Artur Javadyan. At first sight yesterday there was a slight revaluation of the AMD – compared to previous day rate (375.22 per USD) the AMD rate was 373.44 (the dollar transactions yesterday amounted to 3.4 million). But in the currency market the USD was revaluated and overtook the rate defined by the CB. It reached 374.66 instead of the planned 372.11 per USD. But as we know the CB somehow with some magic stick predicts the currency rate based on the transactions of the stock market. But mildly said the actual cost of the USD yesterday didn’t match with the predicted rates. And in the currency market we almost had the same situation as on March 2 – the “black Tuesday.” The banks and currency exchange points would either refuse to sell USD or would sell in a limited amount at the rate of 378-380. And according to circles today again it is expected that the USD is going to rise in its rate. Thus, it’s not excluded that in the near future the CB will have to adopt the policy of a “sinking rate.”
