The NA ad hoc in charge of the revision of the Criminal Code of Armenia and in particular articles 225 and 300 received the conclusion of the Venice Commission relating to the new draft and formulation of articles. The Venice Commission mostly salutes and accepts the changes. Reminder: The RA NA initiated these amendments in January after the adoption of PACE resolution 1643, which was supposedly aimed at resolving the issue of political detainees in Armenia. How will the new formulations treat to the ones, who have already been under custody due to the events of March 1? “It is the prosecutor or the judge to decide whether the detainees can receive a milder statement or a more favorable verdict,” such was the response of the Commission.
