Turkey takes part again

“Improvement of the Armenian-Turkish relations will support the talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the issue of Nagorno Karabakh conflict,” announced Turkish foreign affairs minister Ali Babajan in Baku and emphasized that Turkey advocates the principle of the conflict peaceful settlement in the framework of the Minsk Group. He also said that on December 4-5, during the annual session of the OSCE council of ministers the foreign affairs ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Georgia and Armenia will have a meeting to discuss the new format of cooperation in the region. Babajan said that the first meeting in participation of the five FMs will take place in Helsinki and this meeting was initiated by Turkey to discuss the Caucasus stability and cooperation platform. “Turkey is initiating a new platform for making and keeping peace, as well as settling the conflicts in Caucasus,” said the Turkish FM and informed that the meeting will be followed by a press conference, where they will make an announcement concerning the establishment of the new format of cooperation. “Currently the foreign affairs ministries of the mentioned countries are discussing the technical issues of establishing such cooperation platform,” said Babajan and added that during the meeting each party will have the opportunity to develop recommendations and suggestions, which will be considered in the Caucasus stability platform. He also said that there will be a trilateral meeting in participation of the foreign affairs ministers of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Helsinki. “After these meetings I will have separate meetings with the ministers of the two countries,” said Babajan.
