The head of the Armenian National security Service Gorik Hakobyan has told Jane’s Intelligence Digest news agency that fighting corruption and terrorism are priority issues for the security services of Armenia. “The external danger threatening to the country is the potential repetition of the Armenian Genocide. We are concerned of the possibility of repetition of the Armenian Genocide because Azerbaijan is being militarized intensively and our neighbors are periodically making announcements about their plans to take Karabakh with military power. The balanced foreign policy implemented by Armenia and cooperation with the leading countries and organizations prove that our country stands for peace,” said Gorik Hakobyan. He also said that based on president Serzh Sargsyan’s order the National Security Services have undertaken special measures to involve the society in fighting corruption in reducing the level of corruption in the country. He also said that people are periodically informed about cases of discovering corruption. “Armenia has some success in fighting international terrorism. We are continuing fighting corruption with our colleagues and are following the dynamics of the region, which is full of different external dangers,” said G. Hakobyan.
