The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Armenia Armen Movsisyan met with secretary of the Ministry of Energy of the U.S. Samuel Bodman on October the 11th. While discussing the issue of closing the nuclear plant, Armen Movsisyan commented that that was only possible through the creation of alternative forces. The Armenian minister also stated that in order to secure the nuclear plant as well as develop alternative energetic forces, Armenia hoped to receive aid from the United States. The secretary of the Ministry of Energy of the U.S. stated that he was ready to investigate the roads to take towards developing the energy system in Armenia. The American side is interested in the construction of the Armenia-Iran gas route project.
