The US Department of State has published the annual report on religion freedoms in the world, where it writes about Anti-Semitic actions in Armenia in a separate section. “In May and June of 2008 pro-government newspapers Hayots Ashkharh and Golos Armenii published Anti-Semitic and Anti-Masonic accusations against the first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who is the leader of the opposition now. The domestic monitors say that these actions are attempts to present the opposition’s leader as a betrayer of the country and develop Anti-Semitic moods in the country, which has traditional good relations with the Jewish people,” writes the report, which writes about the national TV as well. “On June 1 state-owned H1 TV broadcast its weekly program “360 degrees”, during which they included a part with ten minutes length targeted at defaming and harming the opposition. On February 27, 2008, the H1 news program broadcast a video clip on the post-election activities of the opposition, where they focused on the flag of Israel among many flags that people were holding. It was done for the purpose of defaming Levon Ter-Petrosyan, whose wife is Jewish,” reads the report of the US Department of State.
