The court of Armenia has made a resolution to release Vazgen Sargsyan’s brother Armen Sargsyan from prison sooner than the defined term of imprisonment. The latter was imprisoned for 10 years in 2003. Armen Sargsyan was accused in organizing the killing of the head of the TV and radio committee Tigran Naghdalyan. It is worth mentioning that the family members of Vazgen Sargsyan have numerously announced that their brother has been imprisoned due to political reasons only and he has no connection with that murder. In addition, after Armen Sargsyan was released member of the Republic party Suren Surenyants announced that their political stance and policies have not changed. “We believe that Armen Sargsyan has been in cells for five years illegally and we hope that very soon the other prisoners that are persecuted for political reasons will be set free as well,” said S. Surenyants. After going out from the prison Armen Sargsyan visited the Erablur (his brother’s cemetery) and then continued his way home.
