Weapons forbidden too

“In small countries as our country, where about one hundred citizens may gather in one place and repeat the slogan freedom peacefully, then the understandings of organized crime fighting and public security are becoming secondary and are not important any more. In this case the primary issue is political dialog. There is no other issue. It is not important any more whether the policeman did right or wrong. He shouldn’t have done anything, this issue should have been solved through a dialog. In such cases the main goal of the police is not to shed blood. Even more, in most cases the police can become intermediate between the authorities and opposition to organize a dialog, which did not happen,” says the head of one public commission out of the existing seven ones launched by the opposition and in charge of examining the events of March 1-2, former chief of the police Suren Abrahamyan when presenting their mid-term report and conclusions. He says that if a large group of people have surrounded themselves by buses and other barriers because of the instinct of security, it is a crime to use explosive materials or weapons against them. “If those shootings or explosions made people panic in case when they are surrounded by such barriers, there would be hundreds or thousands of victims. They would run over each other and there would be many victims. Furthermore, there were too many weapons and tanks concentrated in the city, it is impermissible,” said former police chief Suren Abrahamyan.
