Targeting villagers

09/10/2005

An anonymous officer of the RA Customs Service said that by violating
the existing law the customs services have informally ordered not to
let villagers export fruit to Georgia this year during this season of
heavy crop. As a result of this the villagers and farmers of Lori and
Nojemberyan regions had losses. It turned out, that this restriction
had been made by the interferences of the owners of Yerevan’s
“Kilikia”, “Shant” and Artashat canned fruit companies. In addition,
contrary to the sale of peaches per kilogram, which was supposed to be
250 drams for Georgains, the villagers sold it for 100-150 dram in
Armenia.
