“I can’t shake a bloody hand”

On September 7 before the final outcome of the local government elections in Arabkir community would be published Albert Yeritsyan celebrated his victory with fireworks. At the same time the loyalists and teammates of candidate Zoya Tadevosyan (Heritage party) were discussing the fact that the elections had been violated. Mrs. Tadevosyan told the A1+ news agency that before the elections she announced that there was no competition between the candidates and the law was violated from the very beginning: “As a result of that they distributed much money and terrorized people, as a result of which a 32 years old young man was stabbed with a knife and his life is in danger now.” To note, Hovhannes Shahinyan’s pre-election headquarter activist Mher Kerobyan was stabbed with a knife by a group of armed people who were led by Albert Yeritsyan’s son at 9:30 a.m. After that incident most of the voters were frightened and did not go out of their apartment to participate in the elections. A lot of young tough men were driving expensive cars in the community and frightening people, they were skinheads dressed in black. There were also many police and special security officers in the community that day. “In such awful conditions many people decided to stay at home and not to go out. If this country was a moral state, they would have organized new elections. It is not moral to become a community head by bloodshed. Now we are dealing with an administrative machine, which is ready to do everything and drive over many people for the purpose of their goals. Now I’d like to shake the hand of the winner, but that hand is bloody. I can’t shake a bloody hand,” said Zoya Tadevosyan to journalists.
