The EU European enlargement commissioner Oli Ren has welcomed Turkish president Abdullah Gul’s decision to visit Armenia. “The Georgian crisis has shown that it is important to develop friendly relations in the region, including the Armenian-Turkish relations,” writes the EU assignee’s statement. The latter hopes that other people will follow Gul’s first step targeted at developing relations between these two countries too, which will support stability in the region and will establish a basement for strong cooperation in the region”.
