While the political and public circles of Armenia are discussing the statement of President Serzh Sargsyan related to normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey he once again confirmed his viewpoint. “The creation of natural political relation will enable us to create a committee to discuss the issues relating to Turkey and Armenia,” said President Sargsyan during his interview to the Wall Street Journal when commenting on the intention to invite the Turkish President to Armenia to watch soccer. “By doing that we will launch the symbolic beginning of our relationships,” stated Sargsyan. This interview is interesting not only in the aspect of Turkish-Armenian relations but also because it was published almost simultaneously with the interview of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. When commenting on the assumption that Kocharyan is still governing the country the latter said, “if it was so the Turkish President wouldn’t definitely be invited to Armenia to watch soccer.”
