“The president of Armenia is decisive to reduce the number of people with personal immunity in order to make everyone be equal against the law,” said PM Tigran Sargsyan. He says that it should be done in consideration of political necessity and the international experience to find out who should be protected by the law in order not to let any political pressure against them. “Only a small group of people should have that privilege in case when the number of people with personal immunity is big in Armenia, thus the president has decided to revise the list of people with personal immunity. Also we have opinions of international experts and we agree with the requirement of the GRECO to cut the number of people with personal immunity and clarify the categories,” said Tigran Sargsyan. To note, representatives of 10 categories have the right for partial or full personal immunity. It is recommended not to give the right for personal immunity to MP candidates, members of the CEC, regional and local commissions, community heads and community council members.
