Yesterday senior investigator of the Special Investigative Body of Armenia Vahagn Harutyunyan told the Radio Liberty that during the post-election developments there were enough grounds to imprison the National Assembly MPs (Myasnik Malkhasyan, Hakob Hakobyan and Sasun Mikaelyan). “The MPs are accused of special crime. They are accused of pre-planned crime,” he said as a response to the question why co-rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee John Prescott said earlier this month that if there are grounds for the arrest then why the investigative body doesn’t file any cases to the court. “It wouldn’t be possible to examine their cases during such a short time and file a court case,” Harutyunyan said. To the question whether any policeman or law-enforcer has been found guilty of shooting at people Harutyunyan said, “There are no concrete people, who would deliberately or accidentally shoot at people. But we have been working in that direction from the first day of the investigation,” he said. To the question whether the opposition leaders were questioned or not he said, “They haven’t been questioned yet… The investigation is conducted via a special tactics. During certain time everything will become clear and distinct.”
