Serious role through elections

“I think that the last public speech of Levon Ter-Petrosyan during the Congress of his supporters clearly showed one thing. Ter-Petrosyan made clear in his last speech that he will concentrate on future elections and move into mainstream politics,” said Peter Semneby in an interview with RFE/RL, the EU’s special representative to the South Caucasus. He emphasized that Ter-Petrosyan will concentrate all his activities on the framework of the law. “There has been concern on the part of the government that he and his supporters would engage in illegal street demonstrations and so on,” said the EU envoy. “I can not talk, of course, on behalf of anybody else, but I do get the impression that the limits of the law, in terms of political activities, are very present in the mind of the first president and his supporters,” he said. Let us remember that during his second congress of his pan-Armenian movement stated on May 2 that it is necessary to hold extraordinary presidential and parliamentary elections to overcome the current political crisis in the country and that they will act only in the framework of the law.
