Toward the PACE resolution

“After the events of March 1 the image of Armenia has suffered,” said PA faction secretary Aram Safaryan during a press conference held yesterday. He thinks that the political powers of Armenia should fulfill the recommendations in the PACE resolution. He believes that the recommendations concern both the government and the opposition as both these two political poles should undertake steps to stabilize the situation in the country. He says that the government has already initiated some steps to fulfill the recommendations of the PACE resolution. As an example he says that in two days the NA faction on state and legal affairs will convene a session to discuss the draft law on organizing marches, rallies and demonstrations in order to include it in the agenda of the consecutive session of the parliament for approval. “It is also important to solve the problems with the detainees because there may be people among those detainees who are subject to this law. I think that those people who have committed crimes established by the criminal code should be subject to court proceedings. Those people, who are qualified as political detainees should be set free,” said the MP.
