The four-party coalition of Armenia (RPA, Prosperous Armenia, Legal State, ARF) has made a statement which holds that the reforms aimed at solving the problems mentioned in the election programs, coalition memorandum, government program and the PACE resolution will be consistently implemented. The members of the coalition think that the reforms involve broader involvement of the opposition in the political sphere, building confidence in elections among people, freedom of speech and the media, compliance of the judicial system with the European standards. “The reforms should enable sustainable development of the democratic institutions in Armenia and the rule of law. The establishment of the rights of the opposition in accordance with the European standards should be accompanies by an increase of the political responsibility of all the actors,” runs the statement. The authors of the statement think that freedom of speech should be accompanied with rules of professional ethic and legal obligations, and the right to hold rallies and meetings in accordance with the law and with guarantees of security of the citizens and the state. The political coalition made an appeal for dialogue and cooperation to all the political forces to solve the problems mentioned in the statement. In this connection, the coalition welcomed the decision of the president of Armenia to set up a working group to work out solutions of the problems set down in the PACE resolution. The coalition is sorry that Raffi Hovannisian, member of the Heritage faction of the National Assembly, refused to member the working group. The coalition expects effective moves from the working group to solve the problems mentioned in the PACE resolution and especially to carry out an independent investigation of the post-election process. The statement of the coalition was signed by all the four parties of the coalition.
