Lusine Sahakyan, the defender of Gagik Jhangiryan, informs that on April 18, 2008 the district court of Center and Nork Marash communities heard the petition of the chief investigator of the special investigation service V. Harutiunyan which breaches the Armenian legislation and international laws and prolonged the custody of Gagik Jhangiryan by two months, until June 24, 2008. According to Attorney Sahakyan, this obviously illegal decision was passed by the same judge who had passed an illegal decision on February 27, 2008 at 5.30 in the morning to detain Gagik Jhangiryan. Gagik Jhangiryan refused to take part in the hearing of the petition to prolong his detention, and notified Judge Danielyan and Chief Investigator V. Harutiunyan in written form. On April 22, 2008 Gagik Jhangiryan filed a suit to the Administrative Court of Armenia, disputing the president’s decrees #NH-28-A and #NH-29-A on releasing Gagik Jhangiryan from the duties of deputy prosecutor general and depriving him of the title of state advisor, which breach the Constitution and legislation of Armenia.
