Although yesterday was Independence Day for the Republic of Armenia, we
still face the fact that today, Armenian society does not accept that
Armenia is truly an independent country. Many consider our Independence
as a great victory after the war which we struggled to win, while
others look at it as yet another obstacle facing the Armenian people.
Still, there is a third group which tends to think that it is all just
a formality… However, the good news is that despite that, citizens of
Armenia truly celebrated their Independence yesterday in the heart of
Yerevan. Some of the people participating in the celebration were
people who were actually born during the first years of Independence-
people, who have never really thought about living in an independent
Armenia and who don’t see the country as anything else.
