Discussion around NKR conflict

30/03/2008

“The NKR has all the conditions to have its independence recognized,” yesterday on the 20th anniversary of the NKR movement said the ARFD Bureau’s Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office Director Kiro Manoyan prior to the conference of the ARF youth conference. In his words, it is quite clear that Armenia must be the first one to recognize Karabakh’s independence. In his words the decision to recognize the NK independence must be adopted given the general sentiments of the negotiation process and not for reckoning. Karabakh is fulfilling all the conditions to be recognized an independent state. “It would be much better if the independence of Nagorno Karabakh Republic is recognized not by Armenia first,” said Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan, a politician. According to him if the pressure keeps going on, then Armenia should recognize the independence of NK, and sign contracts with it. According to him it is not the right time yet. Melik-Shahnazaryan is for the “3 plus 3 plus 1” version, where the first three are the co-chairmen of the Minsk Group, the next one is Armenia, Azerbaijan, NKR and the one is Iran. Member of the ARF youth board Zinavor Meghryan mentioned in his speech that the conference is an occasion of one the hand to remember the heroic pages of Armenia and on the other hand to present the assessment of the Armenian young people about the threats of Azerbaijan, which are aimed against the NKR independence. “Considering the threats that the NKR faces we must quit finding traitors within the country or divide the people into Karabakh or Armenia descent. The independence of the NKR is a value for all the Armenians of the world,” said Meghryan.
