Even 4-5 days after the state of emergency was cancelled in Yerevan the Liberty Square still remains surrounded by the police. Police keeps detaining people to the police stations. Yesterday at about 6 p.m. certain people were detained because of the “political walk” in the vicinity of the Liberty Square. One of them, a young man, was sitting on a bench the moment he was taken into custody. As witnessed by a 70-year-old woman and told the A1plus the boy said to the police that he was an ecclesiastic and had no connection with the march but the policemen paid no attention to his words. Also, the policemen are escorted by cameramen who shot the participants of the march. Yesterday the police warned several hundreds of people that their march was not sanctioned and started to gradually disperse the crowd without collisions. Yesterday the former Minister of National Security David Shahnazaryan was also called to the police department of Yerevan’s central Kentron district. The police warned him of this a day ago when he was out to walk in the Liberty Square. Shahnazaryan was escorted by his lawyer to the police and refused to bear testimony. “They wanted to incur an administrative penalty on me. The whole process lasted 30-45 minutes. I think it is a mere political pursuit,” David Shahnazaryan said.
