During yesterday’s press conference the Armenian ex-presidential candidate Arman Melikyan stated the following when speaking of the quadrilateral coalition agreement, “the forces which signed the coalition have led Armenia for ten years and actually they are unable to establish new quality relations in Armenia. The coalition is a titular, arithmetic, short-term solution. I cannot say that the results are satisfactory so far.” According to him if there is no actual way to overcome the crisis any kind of coalition will be infertile. “Coalitions make become an additional means of pressure. At present that is a 7-member opposition faction at the NA – the Heritage faction and the government machine is doing its best to pressure this small group and deprive it from any opportunities,” emphasized Melikyan by adding that the average citizens are very disappointed at present because they would never expect that the Armenian politicians would go so far to reach assassination. According to Melikyan there are no innocent ones and that we all make mistakes and I don’t want to blame concrete people. “We must create an environment, by which the number of the guilty ones will reach the minimum. The state machine must function in a transparent manner and be accountable to the society. I cannot imagine how a high-rank official can lie.” He however didn’t specify who he meant. “The high-rank official doesn’t have the right to lie. If the politician is not able to gather people based on arguments and ideology and is using other methods to reach goals he/she must leave the political arena,” he said.
