Yesterday during the government-parliament Q/A session when PM Serzh Sargsyan entered the parliamentary sitting hall the members of RPA, PA and ARF parties stood up and applauded the prime-minister, even the speaker Tigran Torosyan gave a bunch of flowers to the prime-minister.
The latter passed the flower given by Tigran Torosyan to his party member Hranush Hakobyan. Later Hranush Hakobyan distributed those flowers among the women MPs. Heritage faction member Anahit Bashkhyan asked the PM about his announcement concerning cooperating with the opposition. Specifically, Bashkhyan asked what exactly his suggestion meant. Answering to this question Serzh Sargsyan said, “Yesterday during my speech I spoke about the format of cooperation I was suggesting to the extent of forming a coalition government. I don’t think that the parliament is a place for discussing the details. However, we are ready to discuss details with those who are ready for cooperation. We have already received a feedback from the opposition. If you agree to cooperate with us, we will be glad to work with you as well”.
Heritage party member Armen Martirosyan wanted to propose a question as well and before asking that question he said that during the February 19 election some MPs were intimidated, some politicians, civil activists, students and other citizens had been punished for their political stances, activities and keeping armaments. “We know that our colleagues, businessmen, friends and brothers have weapons, most of which are legal, we know that sometimes ordinary citizens are making more critical announcements, but such investigation targets are selective. In addition, the police officers that have intimidated on MPs have not only been arrested or punished, but have been promoted,” said Martirosyan and asked Serzh Sargsyan how he imagines the principle of equal application of the law in practice. In answer to that question Serzh Sargsyan said that of course they had to work a lot and make efforts to overcome first of all lack of legal consciousness among officials and MPs. “Ordinary citizen and politician; I don’t understand what it means. To me all RA citizens are the same. To me illegal weapon is illegal despite who the owner of that weapon is – a parliamentary deputy, ordinary citizen or Yerkrapah Union member,” said Serzh Sargsyan and added that illegal weapons had always been searched and the capacities of such illegal weapons were growing, which had to be persecuted and confiscated. By the way, Serzh Sargsyan did not know that on the voting day the police intimidated on MP A. Martirosyan, Vardan Khachatryan and Zaruhi Postanjyan. He promised to find out what had happened and instruct the police to proceed the case faster.
