“The new president of Armenia is well-aware of the NKR negotiation process and the document on the negotiation. As a whole, the incumbent president and I approve the basic principles included in the document. In this regard the standpoint of the Prime Minister is clear. We won’t waste time and very soon will resume the negotiation process hoping that by the conduct of the Azerbaijani presidential elections certain progress will be registered,” yesterday stated the RA Foreign Affairs Minister Vardan Oskanyan during the joint press conference with the chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CMCE), Foreign Minister of Slovakia Ján Kubiš. Oskanyan added that after the official publication of the presidential election results the co-chairmen are showing the first signs of holding a meeting. According to him, the EU special representative encouraged the RA and Azerbaijani presidents to meet. Oskanyan is not aware of the dates. However the meeting will take place when the new president makes a decision on that. As of Armenia’s attitude to Kosovo issue Oskanyan mentioned that Armenia will soon announce its standpoint about the issue. “We discuss this issue and will deliver our decision soon,” he said. Oskanyan also spoke about the inter-political situation by mentioning that it may negatively impact on the international reputation of the country and the NKR conflict resolution. “Azerbaijan has already started to benefit from our situation. I don’t want to bring up concrete examples but be sure it started. In the diplomatic aspect they see a “window”. They think that our government is fragmented and that they will be able to reach the goals they always strived for,” stated Oskanyan and added that the positive image, which Armenia has abroad, may be skipped from our achievement list. “It may be very bad for us. Till now we haven’t ever missed our credit. Even those rallies are expression of democracy. If we succeed in correcting the situation, shake hands and overcome hostility we will be able to maintain our achievements,” he said. According to Oskanyan if the rallies and actions of the opposition continue now when the official results were publicized it means that the organizers have other goals. “Although these rallies attained a radical manner those are still tolerable. But if those continue then certain measures will be required to apply. Till this stage the world will have a normal attitude to the demonstrations by considering it part of democracy. But if those continue it may retain a negative trait,” he mentioned and added, “Fortunately the state is strong and all these efforts won’t bring results.”
