The post-election environment is getting worse in Armenia. The authorities have started arresting Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s supporters by different reasons. The police has already arrested former deputy public prosecutor general Gagik Jhangiryan, former minister of state incomes and member of the Republic party Smbat Ayvazyan, the chairman of democratic fatherland party Petros Makeyan and the chairman of New Times party Aram Karapetyan. Yesterday member of the Republic party Suren Surenyants was kidnapped. Other people have been arrested as well. Specifically, MP Khachatur Sukiasian’s body guards have been arrested. A criminal case has been launched and member of Karabakh committee Samvel Gevorgyan has been charged for hindering the work of the electoral commission of #22/37 polling station. During the opposition’s protest rally in the Liberty square, which started six days ago, the former president Levon Ter-Petrosyan has said that it is not excluded that he may be arrested as well, but he petitioned people not to lose their hopes and not to leave the square. By the way, yesterday the municipality of Yerevan petitioned people to leave the Liberty square as the events organized there are not legal.
