Nothing is frozen

“Everyone should realize that during the pre-election period the Criminal Code of Armenia is not frozen. Vice versa, the law-enforcers are going to be stricter on those days when applying sanctions. All that should be done to ensure that we don’t have more serious problems on the election day,” the President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan told the journalists when answering to a question about the cases of arrest in Talin on January 27. “What happened in Talin happened in the eyes of everyone. The scuffle process was filmed and the law-enforcers would close their eyes on this even if they wanted to,” he said. Kocharyan said that during the campaign period traffic laws are not frozen either. Kocharyan mentioned that he had personally witnessed how the motorcade escorting Ter-Petrosyan on January 29 created actual hazard to the lives of other participants of the rally. “I have witnessed the incident, which took place on the crossroads of Demirchyan-Baghramyan streets as my car was also in the traffic. All that was impertinent and I think such presumptions actions must be prevented by state structures and the culprits must be punished,” said Kocharyan.
