Armenia occupies the 28th place in the report of famous American “Heritage Foundation” organization on economic independence of the countries of the world in 2008 (it occupied the 32 place in the previous report), which is considered to be a country with main economic independence. According to the report, Armenia is so successful despite its economic blockade. To our correspondent’s question whether this statement has any political reasons ARP member Armen Ashotyan has said the following: “Yes, besides analysis there are political reasons too. Don’t forget about the fact that “Heritage Foundation” is very close to the American elite and primary source of information, thus it has a great influence on the American government and external relations. The estimation concerning Armenia, which was given on the threshold of the presidential elections, is based on objective reasons and also some political factors, which are the fact that it supports the policy implemented by the Armenian authorities and as I said, being close to the American elite and having their information, it can be considered as hidden support by the American government”.
