On December 8 another oppositional rally took place in the Liberty Square, which united thousands of people. Of course, the axis of the rally was the speech of the first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, which you can read on other pages of our newspaper with certain cuts.
Besides Ter-Petrosyan the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Arzumanyan, PPA chairman Stepan Demirchyan and Marxist Davit Hakobyan (who asked the first president not to recede by attack) also made speeches during the rally. “Today the public demands a united opposition”, said Alexander Arzumanyan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs. He considers that the lack of a united opposition always hinders a pan-national movement. He reflected on “political merchants”, who were engaged in political trade. He considered such political actors and parties evils. He pointed out Artashes Geghamyan as an example of the evil. Alexander Arzumanyan considered “our vanity” the main evil for the pan-national gathering. He also pointed out the name of the second political actor “who is also a betrayer”. He pointed out Vazgen Manukyan, who made an impression that he fought against the state of bandits, but in fact he fought against Ter-Petrosyan. “However hard they try to make anti-national steps, the victory is in the hands of the nation”, said Alexander Arzumanyan. The chairman of the “People’s Party” Stepan Demirchyan stated that the appearance of the RA First President in the political field gave some political actors a good opportunity “for political trade”. He announced that it would be more decent if some nominated candidates supported Serzh Sargsyan. Stepan Demirchyan elucidated the reason of such anti-propagating activities – as they say, the opposition representative Levon Ter-Petrosyan has mixed all cards of the current administration, thus becoming the main target of propagating machines. Stepan Demirchyan mentioned that in narrower circles Ter-Petrosyan admitted his mistakes: “Has the today’s Armenian administration ever admitted its mistakes or has it ever accounted to the society?” Once again Chairman of the “People’s Party” underlined that the functioning authorities were responsible for “27 October” incidents, since they had disseminated leaflets before the today’s gathering, stating that the relatives of “27 October” victims, who support Ter-Petrosyan today, speculate their grief and have become an instrument in Ter-Petrosyan’s hands. “I demand the authors of the low and disgusting leaflets to carry criminal responsibility, otherwise you will prove that you stand behind the “27 October” incidents”, said Stepan Demirchyan, addressing Serge Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan. He pointed out that the main instigating power of the Armenia’s leading clan is cynicism. Reflecting on sociological surveys, Demirchyan pointed that one should not rely on such surveys, since people were afraid of expressing their opinion in this country. “We fight for our ideas in our fatherland”, announced Stepan Demirchyan. As of the leaflets, those were distributed on the day of the rally. Those were spread on the streets, among students, passersby, etc. In order to make a certain clue about the authors of the leaflets let’s briefly introduce you to the contents. It develops the formulation of the word “instrument” by Robert Kocharyan. In the leaflets the first president is presented as an “instrument.” It explains the rules of using the instrument. They wrote in the leaflet with interminable cynicism that the tool is good use for people, who haven’t had much success in striving to power, people, who had lost their trust and respect in the society, etc. Only these words are enough to have certain understanding about the rest of the contents. If the police doesn’t attempt to find the culprits of this illegality then there will be certain grounds to draw conclusions. It is known that recently the law-enforcers are paying a great deal of attention to publishing houses to make sure that no material of oppositional contents is being published. It means that the revelation of this case as well as the search of the authors is only a technical issue.
