“My friend, let’s change the topic”

The ten-year silence between the first and the second presidents reminds of a history. During one of the concerts composer Morris Ravel appeared next to another composer, who hated Ravels’ music. After silently sitting next to him for ten minutes Ravel offered his “talk-friend”, “my friend, let’s change the topic.” As time shows the ten-year silence between Kocharyan and Ter-Petrosyan proves that they were silent not because they didn’t have anything to tell each other. Vice versa. Moreover, they address to each other such accusations (they claim that those are only the surface accusations), which will require us to read the criminal code to understand. The ten-year anniversary silence was first violated by Ter-Petrosyan by opening the Pandora Box. If we review their relations from the first stage we may even not get surprised by the fact that they both have hatred to each other. There is a video circulating in the city (perhaps many have watched it), which is disseminated by the representatives of the opposition. Levon Ter-Petrosyan paces in the room with a cigarette in his hand, where Robert Kocharyan was sitting. Levon Ter-Petrosyan asks Kocharyan, “do you know our lord prayer?” (you can guess the tone of the question). The answer was, “no”, to which Ter-Petrosyan responds, “See, when I am saying that you are not Armenian you don’t believe me.” Later the laughter follows. “I am Albanian,” answers Kocharyan in a shy manner and blushed. The video didn’t mention what does the knowledge of that prayer have to do with Kocharyan or how many people know this prayer. The purpose of the video is different. In this case they are showing the humiliation of the person, who after attaining the power treats the same way to his chinovniks. This is just a small episode to imagine the relationships between Ter-Petrosyan and Kocharyan. It’s quite understandable that Ter-Petrosyan’s presence has always been pressing for Kocharyan both during in the status of NKR president and Prime Minister of Armenia. It’s enough to watch scenes from the second inauguration of Ter-Petrosyan and ensure how gloriously and inspiringly Kocharyan congratulates Ter-Petrosyan. It would be naïve to assume that Kocharyan didn’t have information that the elections were falsified. Therefore, it is quite obvious that there is certain subjectivity in the assessment of both of the mentioned political figures, where the factor of people doesn’t play any role. In Armenia the vote of the people hasn’t been deciding anything for quite long. The only thing is that the role of the people on the eve of elections is increasing in certain episodes. And the responses of Robert Kocharyan to the questions of the readers of the Golos Armenii daily are not convincing regardless of the level of truth because the other newspapers of the country would also like to ask their questions to Kocharyan. It’s quite understandable that the journalists of the governmental media formulate and ask their questions in a way that Kocharyan could give preliminarily prepared answers. By the way the same thing also existed during the governance of Ter-Petrosyan’s regime. Ter-Petrosyan’s answers nowadays are not complete and convincing either because a limited number of people can ask him questions, who don’t wish to remind him of his past. Therefore there is no need to make mutual accusations if those don’t have any legal grounds or consequences. It would be more honest to sit next to each other and answer the questions of all media representatives. Otherwise pretensions and accusations can be passed to each other on the phone.
