Even though the authorities are trying to bring different colors into the political field through different politicians, today it is clear that the political field consists of two colors – black and white. Despite the fact that it is obvious that the main competition will be between two main candidates, the first president and the existing prime minister, however it is also clear that if other politicians come up into the political field, they may support one of the candidates by taking votes from the other.
It is a long time that efforts are being made to create the mentioned third force. Yesterday during a conference ARF board member Spartak Seyranyan said that the mentioned predictions and rumors are showing that the future developments in the political field and the future competition will be the mentioned two candidates. However, he believes that very soon the situation will change and other colors will enter into the political field and “the contrast moods connected with rallies that are dominating now will not exist any more”. He thinks that there will be three main competing powers, which will compete based on their ideological potential. As for the mentioned contrast mood, he thinks that it was brought into the field by the first president. Mr. Seyranyan says that the mentioned contrast mood has been created by the first president. “One shouldn’t appear in the political field after keeping silence for ten years and say that the country is in a bad situation, o my God what have you done with my wonderful country?” said Mr. Seyranyan and highlighted that the problems the first president speaks about existed one year, two years ago too and the basement for such problems was created in his office. Mr. Seyranyan also thinks that this time the presidential elections will proceed in a comparatively peaceful atmosphere than the previous elections. He thinks that the elections will not end after the first phase.
Now let’s discuss the facts that the political powers are reminding each other. While the “independent Media companies” are busy with reminding such facts, the ARF threatens that if anyone reminds them anything, they will remind them about certain facts too. According to S. Seyranyan, they don’t want to remind anything to anyone, but if anyone tries to do that with them, they will do the same, which he believes will be harder for their opponents. He says that it concerns both the previous and the existing authorities.
Now about Turkey. It is not a secret that the governmental campaign pushes the idea that Turkey is very glad and they hope that Levon Ter-Petrosyan will become president again. In answer to a journalist’s question whether Turkey has become so active and interested in the elections in Armenia he asked another question. “Has Turkey become interested and active? Generally my imagination is that when Armenians become interested in the Turkish and Azeri press, it means that something serious is happening in the country”. S. Seyranyan highlighted that those people who have read the Turkish Media coverage know that the Turkish Media and research centers haven’t brought new ideas concerning Armenian-Turkish relations and the Artsakh issue “Now they are writing the same as they have been writing during the past 10-15 years,” S. Seyranyan said. Concerning the possibility of violating the results of the upcoming presidential elections Mr. Seyranyan said that if the elections are violated, ARF will become opposition. “If these elections are not free and fair, if they don’t reflect the will of the people, we will become opposition,” Seyranyan threatened. By the way, it is worth mentioning that ARF supports the policy of the existing president and they explain that fact with the policy Kocharyan is implementing. Even the ARF has limited the term of the coalition cooperation memorandum with the end of the president’s tenure period. However, Kocharyan has already spoken the name of the person advocated by him, who is Serzh Sargsyan. This means that Kocharyan thinks that the best follower of his job and policy is Serzh Sargsyan. Thus, if the ARF is supporting Kocharyan due to his policy, logically they should support Serzh Sargsyan too since his policy will not differ from Kocharyan’s policy much. In consideration of all these facts, if they are nominating their own candidate it means that they either think that Kocharyan has made a mistake or they have made calculations and come to the conclusion that they can help Serzh Sargsyan become president more by nominating their own candidate than by supporting him openly, which some ARF representatives would not like. In any case the strategy they have chosen gives them an opportunity to get pleasure without losing virginity.
