Yesterday the joint opposition branch organized a rally at the Freedom Square with participation of over 30 thousand citizens. During the rally Levon Ter-Petrosyan discussed the critics addressed to him and the existing authorities and came up with several sensational suggestions. “In three years after becoming president I am ready to leave politics forever, thus enabling you to elect a new president of the country through fully free and lawful elections. At the same time, I will not interfere with those elections and such elections will be controlled by the NA president. I need those three years to clean up the Augean stables and putting the state on normal bases,” said Levon Ter-Petrosyan in his message addressed to Hrant Margaryan, Vazgen Manukyan, Raffi Hovhannisyan, Artashes Geghamyan, Arthur Baghdasaryan and the other potential candidates for presidency. However, Ter-Petrosyan said that the mentioned scenario would be possible if all the other opposition candidates joined the national movement that had already started. “In case of ignoring this petition, no further explanations and justifications will ever be accepted by the people. In such case, certainly, the above mentioned conditional term of three years will be raised. My decisiveness does not depend on your positive or negative response at all. I have already stepped foot into the water and I am not afraid of becoming wet, I have already thrown down the gloves and I will go till the end,” announced Levon Ter-Petrosyan. As of yesterday there had not been any responses to this announcement. Our correspondent has asked Artashes Geghamyan how he relates to the announcement of the first president, who responded that he was not going to follow that announcement. “I am proposing a suggestion in answer to Ter-Petrosyan to join all the opposition forces that are keeping with NU party. In spite of his decision, in case of being elected I will stay in office for the provided five years and will not resign so that to prove that it is possible to turn over and makes changes on the way of development of the country,” Geghamyan said and added that they would discuss that issue at their board meeting to see whether the board of their party would advocate his decision or no. NDU chair Vazgen Manukyan has said that he doesn’t know about Ter-Petrosyan’s petition yet and will inform about his opinion after getting informed.
