The day of the presidential elections is February 19, 2008, which is a nonworking day. Yesterday the head of the Central Electoral Commission, Garegin Azaryan announced the official Election Day. “According to the second provision of Article 88 of the RA Electoral Code I am authorized to inform that the presidential elections of the republic, according to Article 51 of the RA Constitution, will take place on February 19, 2008,” said Garegin Azaryan. In the period of November 21- December 6 the CEC will accept candidate nomination documents and the candidate registration will be done in the period of December 31 – January 20. The campaign period will be in January 21 – February 17. The price for air broadcasting will be announced till November 19.
In fact, the preliminary results of the elections will be clear on February 20, which is the day of the Karabakhi movement 20th anniversary. It means that in case of violating the elections people will have two reasons to go out to streets.
