Indeed the author of the top economic stories of the week is the State Tax Service (STS). The STS together with the Police have launched active inspections in Sil Holding. Many people see a political context behind this process. One or two months go no one would ever think that Bjni Factory of the Sukiasyans’ family would ever shut down. Especially it’s worth mentioning that inspections were conducted in the same factory 3-4 months ago with no intention of shutting it down. The problem is not only that Khachatur Sukiasyan is an MP. He has always had an image of the most careful and intellectual businessman. The mental abilities of Sukiasyan were able to retain his businesses after the government change in 1998 without any major turbulence. This fact showed to the world that in Armenia after government change the major businesses don’t suffer. This is indeed a great criterion for any country. The businesses in the world usually feel the turbulence when the governments are drastically changed. Even the historians are going to have hard time if someone asks them to tell during ho many governments the Rothschild Family was able to retain its businesses in France. The market economy implies that the business class must be ready to face political changes in turbulence. There are laws and Constitutions, which protect the properties of the businessmen. The businessmen in Armenia also have an organization, which protects their rights – Union of Producers and Businessmen. This NGO is supposed to protect the businessmen’s interests. The recent history of the RA doesn’t have too many examples of businessmen persecution. About a year ago another businessmen, former NA MP Hakob Hakobyan was given a hard time for his resistance to the government. The bsuienssmen haven’t protected Hakobyan either by the union or individually. He was even deprived of an MP’s mandate. The next one is the example of the Royal Armenia. It’s owner Gagik Hakobyan was arrested immediately after he had voluntarily returned from Spain. None of the businessmen protected him either. And now no one protects Sukiasyan just like the latter ignored his counterparts when they were in trouble. Everyone is trying to solve his problems on his own. There is an impression that our businessmen don’t care about any social issue. They only care about their businesses and the good attitude of the government to them. The businessmen think that it’s easier to buy that then the positive treatment of the government o them. As far as I know none of the local businessmen spent a luma on the environment formation. We all think that it is the business of the western states to worry about the formation of an environment of a civil society. Our businessmen will maximum donate money to the "Armenia" state fund. And it’s still questionable whether they do it by being obliged by the government or their own will. All these facts give grounds to the society to assume that they are all the same.
