In the United States Armenia’s Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan gave an interview to the correspondent of “Associated Press” information agency, where he particularly expressed hope that the US Congress will adopt the Armenian Genocide recognition resolution. He has also mentioned that Armenia doesn’t lobby on the resolution. Meanwhile he expressed an opinion that the process of the progress of the resolution is being hindered by the pressure of Turkey because the US House doesn’t have a doubt that the genocide really took place. “Therefore there is nothing to discuss,” according to Radio Liberty mentioned Sargsyan. “We are sure that the genocide took place and the sooner the Turks admit that the better for both Armenians and Turks.” As of the affirmations of the Turkish side, by which the recognition of the resolution will deteriorate the Armenia-Turkish relations Sargsyan mentioned, “I don’t understand what the Turks are saying. We don’t have relations now. We cannot harm what doesn’t exist.” Meanwhile he said that the recognition of the resolution will not harm the recovery of normal relations with Turkey. “That is no reason to impede the process of establishment of normal relations between the two countries,” he emphasized.
