The joint candidate will have 41.7% votes

23/10/2007

On October 2-8 the Armenian Sociological Association has conducted polls among 1000 citizens of Armenia. The results are very interesting particularly in the angle of the Presidential elections 2008. 60% of the pollsters said that they are going to vote during the upcoming elections. This means that the implications that the society has become indifferent to politics and elections are proven to be untrue. “Who would you vote for if the elections were held this Sunday?” The results of this question are as follows: Artur Baghdasaryan -11.2%, Artashes Geghamyan -10.5%, Armen Rustamyan -0.8%, Vahan Hovhannisyan -3.2%, Gagik Tsarukyan -12%, Levon Ter-Petrosyan -3.8%, Serzh Sargsyan -31.8%, Vazgen Manukyan -3.9%, Raffi Hovhannisian -12.3%. And although the pollsters have mentioned names of different candidates but even if we suppose that the opposition is going to run with a joint candidate (which is obviously not going to happen) the sum of their votes is going to be 41.7%.
